Citi’s porfolio Optimizer streamlines financial planning by unifying fragmented assets into one cohesive strategy with real-time, advisor-driven insights.

From Data to Dialogue

Optimizer redefines the quarterly review by turning static spreadsheets into a dynamic, personalized narrative of investor financial growth. By consolidating fragmented accounts, from Citi holdings to external brokerage pots, into one intelligent ecosystem, we replace the manual guesswork of net-worth tracking with automated, advisor-led clarity.

Our goal was to move beyond "balance checking" and create a "Financial Wrapped" experience. Through data visualization that celebrates milestones and highlights risks, we’ve made the path to rebalancing feel like a collaborative strategy rather than a chore.

Designing for Dual Users

We designed this experience to solve a dual-sided friction point: the wealth advisor's need for a comprehensive "Financial Wrapped" to drive strategy, and their client's hesitation to share external data or wait for a report they can't see. By mapping the advisory timeline directly into the UI, we’ve turned a "black box" waiting period into a visible, shared progression.

The setup screens focus on building this high-fidelity feedback loop from day one. Portfolio owners gain an at-a-glance understanding of their journey, from initial account linking to the final optimized portfolio, minimizing cognitive load until a strategic pivot is required. For the wealth manager, this interface acts as a communication bridge, setting the stage for more meaningful conversations by ensuring both parties are aligned on the process and the data before a single recommendation is made.

The Path to Rebalanced Growth

By prioritizing visual storytelling, Optimizer transforms complex financial data into an actionable roadmap through two distinct phases. In the first phase, the UI replaces static "balance checking" with a narrative of growth, highlighting milestones like an 8.4% YTD return. These high-fidelity visualizations ground the portfolio owner in their current financial reality, establishing momentum before any strategic changes are introduced.

Once context is set, the experience narrows in on advisor-led opportunities to optimize the holdings. "Allocation Details" show precisely where a portfolio has drifted, such as a 60% concentration in Technology. Instead of simple text, a waterfall chart visualizes the exact trade of selling Tech to fund a Real Estate purchase, to rebalance the portfolio. Finally, the wealth advisor uses the Key Insights module to explain the "why," ensuring the owner understands the risk-mitigation value and the strategic intent behind the move.
